Leidos Intelligence Group is seeking a Systems Engineer to support an enterprise IT program. We are looking for a candidate to assist with strategic planning and oversee implementation of the Sponsor's cloud-based data environment

Primary Responsibilities:
The Customer supports analysts through the provision of large datasets, methodologies, and data visualizations to address pressing intelligence questions. The Customer requires support developing and maintaining a cloud-based data environment to transport, store, extract, transform, and load (ETL), and disseminate data solutions. The Customer needs experienced support in data engineering, cloud architecture, and application development. The work includes engaging regularly with data scientists, analysts, and managers. The Systems Engineer will assist with strategic planning and oversee implementation of the Customer's cloud-based data environment, to include mapping of data sources and access controls. They will develop code, data models, and documentation to Customer standards; provide systems administration and programming support for ETL processes and data infrastructure efforts; and train and conduct knowledge transfer to team members on issues and technologies related to Customer ETL process, on premise high capacity compute cluster, and administrative duties. The Systems Engineer will coordinate with external data and platform providers to ensure the smooth functioning of the Customer's systems and data flows, and to accomplish any needed changes and coordinate with experts to assist with technical aspects required to acquire new datasets or data management technologies for inclusion in the Sponsor's environment. They will also support the cross-domain transfer and integration of data, to include using on-premises cluster, cloud environment, and SQL-based systems such as PostgreSQL and Impala.

Basic Qualifications

1. Demonstrated experience serving as a technical liaison between system engineers, data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and non-technical managers and personnel.

2. Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud services, including long-term storage options, and cloud-based database services such as Databricks or Elastic MapReduce (EMR).
3. Demonstrated experience with SQL database structures and mapping between SQL databases.
4. Demonstrated experience with network attached storage (NAS).
5. Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining automated deployment scripts.
6. Demonstrated experience in large-scale data migration efforts.
7. Demonstrated experience with large scale data compute or processing clusters such as Hadoop.
8. Demonstrated experience with test-driven development on top of a secure on-premise cluster using the most efficient languages for the task such as Apache Nifi, Java, Python or SQL.
9. Demonstrated experience with database architecture, performance design methodologies, and system-tuning recommendations, including Hadoop Hive, Apache NiFi, and Impala.
10.Demonstrated experience maintaining, supporting, and improving the ETL process through the implementation and standardization of data flows with Apache Nifi and other ETL tools.

11. Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience. Work experience can be used/combined with education

Preferred Qualifications

11. Demonstrated experience using standardized systems to procure required items.
12. Demonstrated experience with the Sponsor’s data environment and on-premises compute structure.
13. Demonstrated experience in storage and backup recovery systems.
14. Demonstrated experience with Data Quality and Data Governance concepts and experience.
15. Demonstrated experience with System administration and Linux administration.
16. Demonstrated experience transforming data through high capacity compute (HCC) techniques.
17. Demonstrated experience administering system rights and responsibilities for Sponsor's on-premises cluster and

      cloud infrastructure.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 – $227,950.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
