The Strategic Transactions Lead will be responsible for supporting Merger & Acquisition and Venture Capital strategic assessments at Lockheed Martin Space. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: development of strategic rationale and business cases for Mergers & Acquisitions (including Joint Ventures, Divestitures, and Strategic Alliances), technology assessments and investment theses for Lockheed Martin Ventures (LMV) investments, and Strategic Cooperation Agreements and alternative business case development for the organization.

Summary of Key Duties: In this role you will…

Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisitions, space-related venture investments, strategic teaming, joint venture opportunities, and unsolicited offers

Work closely with Corporate Development, Corporate Strategy, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Engineering, Treasury, Legal and Accounting to evaluate opportunities, prepare review materials, and gain senior executive level approvals to proceed with transactions

Work closely with the Space Finance and Business Operations organization to bring forth opportunities that align with Space goals to grow customer and shareholder value

Support due diligence and integration management

Partner closely with the executive team across all channels of the Space enterprise to develop and evaluate targeted opportunities and secure revenue and cost synergy commitments

Conduct research and analysis in support of the initial screening of M&A candidate companies as well as landscapes for venture investment opportunities

Work cross functionally to develop strategic frameworks to analyze and identify value-creating growth

Must be able to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously

The candidate is expected to support both transaction execution and related strategy development projects, and should be able to work independently, as part of a small core team, and as a subject matter expert supporting the broader Space organization

Our level 4 employees typically have 9-15 years of experience.

Although this position does support some teleworking, the selected candidate will be located near our Highlands Ranch facility and be expected to work in the office as needed and as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree

Minimum 5 total years of finance, project management, OR transaction oriented roles (investment banking, consulting, etc.)

Exceptional technical financial modeling skills

Demonstrated experience in the identification, qualification, diligence, and execution of mergers and acquisitions OR venture capital transactions

Experience using PowerPoint to express deal rationale, strategic vision, or complex ideas

Due to program information to which this position will have access, U.S. citizenship is required

Desired Skills:

A Masters degree in a related discipline

Direct experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, Venture Capital Investing and/or Strategy Consulting

Experience working at an investment banking firm, venture capital fund, or strategic consultancy

Experience with corporate divestitures or acquisition integration

Experience developing business cases for executive-level audiences

Formal or informal leadership experience and desire to lead execution of strategic transactions

Proven ability to think critically and find creative solutions to complex problems

Space / Defense, Industrials, or TMT sector experience

Experience developing executive level briefing material and presenting to a senior-level audience

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 – $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
