This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

Job Description
Are you a mission driven individual who is looking for a meaningful career? This isn’t your average mission. Join HII – Mission Technologies and make a difference supporting our C5ISR division. The Software Engineer Internship is a temporary position within HII – Mission Technologies which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training and gathering experience related to a student’s educational discipline and which is applicable to the business needs of the company. The position is for college students who are rising juniors in their academic program. During the Software Engineer Internship, you will be supporting a mission management tool called the Minotaur Mission Processor. Minotaur ingests data from various sensors on manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft to enhance an operator’s ability to identify tracks from various on-board sensors, from land, sea and air.
Responsibilities would include developing new or improving existing capabilities to an operationally fielded system. Support all stages of the software engineering, including design, implementation, integration, and test.
Subject areas may differ over time, but current projects focus on improving the exploitation of airborne sensor data through object tracking, multi-sensor correlation, and operational data display.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Research and concept development for solutions to unaddressed, critical military operational shortfalls.
System design and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes incorporating a variety of engineering disciplines: control theory, software development, signal/video processing, pattern recognition, high performance computing, applied mathematics, network/web services, and visualization.
Design and implementation of graphical user interfaces to meet customers’ demands and needs.
Automation and improvement of simulation and test capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor’s degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed.
Must currently be enrolled as a student in an accredited public or private college or university and have more than 40% of required college credits completed.
Preference for Software, Electrical and Computer Engineering degrees.
Preferred Requirements
Software development experience in a Linux Environment
Experience with C++, Java, JavaScript, React, Typescript or related languages
Excellent writing, communication and listening skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Must be diligent, hardworking and a fast learner.
Desires to gain professional experience and is eager to learn.
Physical Requirements
Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
