We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Writer I to join our talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for translating technical information into clear, concise documentation, often including user manuals, how-to guides, and online help, by utilizing writing and editing skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to gather necessary information.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

Gather information from subject-matter experts to understand technical details and product features.

Create user-friendly documentation such as user manuals, quick reference guides, FAQs, and online help content.

Ensure accuracy and consistency in technical documentation, including grammar and style checks.

Utilize documentation tools to format content with appropriate headings, tables, and visuals for easy readability.

Work with cross-functional teams like developers, designers, and project managers to gather feedback and align documentation with product updates.

Ensure the quality of written content by thoroughly reviewing for grammatical errors and inconsistencies.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a technical field such as Engineering.

0-2 years professional experience required; however, relevant academic projects or internships are beneficial.

Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and concise manner with engineers and other team members.

Basic understanding of the navigation systems being documented is preferred.

Ability to gather information from various sources to accurately represent technical details.

Familiarity with authoring tools like MadCap Flare, Confluence, or similar platforms to format and manage documentation.

Ability to create simple diagrams or visuals to enhance understanding.

Required Security Clearance:

US Citizenship required.

Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
