RTX BBN solves challenging problems of high importance to our customers in the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community and Industry by rapidly prototyping systems for sensing complex physical phenomena, correlating them to events of interest, and producing high-value, actionable information from the sensed data. The team specializes in delivering networked sensor system solutions by combining a strong understanding of the underlying physics, high-fidelity modeling, simulation of complex signatures and propagation phenomenology, deep expertise in signal processing, EM and RF phenomenology, and computer science, proven capabilities in system development, and mature tools to enable rapid design cycles from theory to demonstration. We are currently searching for a highly qualified RF Systems Engineer to join our team in Arlington, VA.

What you will do:

BBN is seeking a TS-cleared systems engineer knowledgeable in the radio frequency (RF) domain to join our team of electrical engineers, physicists, and mathematicians as we build and deliver advanced prototype systems that exploit the RF spectrum. The selected candidate will be responsible for advancing research prototypes to meet customer requirements of special communication protocols to include real-time detection, filtering and tracking, array processing, and direction finding targeted to integrate with mature user operations. Candidate must have an understanding of RF propagation modeling to include link budgets, terrestrial and free-space propagation models, multipath, non-stationary propagation environments (Doppler spread), clock stability and phase noise, and target kinematics. Additional support on programs involving range-doppler radar and synthetic aperture radar is also an area of development.

Candidate will plan and supervise tasks involving 1-3 individuals for small applied research projects where we design and implement advanced signal processing algorithms in novel hardware, implement on real-time hardware, test in a lab environment, then validate in an over the-air field environment. The experienced Candidate will have the opportunity to present technical advancements to government customers.

Qualifications You Must Have

BS degree and 5 years or MS and 3 years of experience or a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or relevant field

Active Top Secret clearance required.

Experience with Matlab, Python and/or C++ applied to signal processing challenges

Qualifications We Prefer – Familiar with all, Expert in some

Independently executes responsibilities with limited review or supervision.

Plans/directs/coordinates/supervises tasks and 1-2 staff within projects

Takes proactive action to anticipate, understand, and meet program and customer needs

Position may require some amount of overnight travel.

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD – 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
