Reuters, the world’s largest independent global news organization, is seeking a highly motivated Climate Science Fellow to join our investigative team on a groundbreaking project analyzing global temperature trends. This is a unique, six-month paid fellowship offering an opportunity for a graduate student or postdoctoral scientist to transition their expertise into impactful journalism.
This immersive fellowship provides a platform to leverage your climate science background (or a similar physical science) to communicate complex scientific findings to a global audience. You’ll work alongside experienced investigative journalists and data scientists, contributing to a high-profile project with global impact.
About the Role
As our Reuters Climate Science Fellow (Level 1 Journalist – Temp) , you will:
Analyze diverse climate datasets to identify key trends and insights.
Develop innovative software tools and statistical models to enhance our understanding of climate change.
Create compelling presentations summarizing complex findings for a broad audience.
Collaborate with a team of editors, reporters, and visual journalists on a worldwide project.
Contribute to the creation of impactful news stories that shape the global conversation on climate change.
About You
As our Reuters Climate Science Fellow (Level 1 Journalist – Temp) , you will likely have:
A Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in climate science, atmospheric science, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills and experience working with large datasets.
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL),statistical modelling and geospatial libraries.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a passion for translating complex scientific information into accessible narratives.
A desire to apply scientific expertise in a journalistic setting.
