Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT), Information Security & Privacy Group (ISPG), Division of Cyber Threat & Security Operations (DCTSO). As a IT Specialist (Security), GS-2210-14, you will provide advanced technical subject matter expertise for the design, architecture, engineering, implementation, and operations of enterprise CMS Cybersecurity Incident Center (CCIC). Responsibilities Serves as the senior technical contact for the daily operation of the CMS security operations center (SOC). Plans, recommends, and incorporates enterprise information system technologies, providing technical direction, advice and assistance to team leaders, technical POC’s, division and office management. Ensures proper operations of the functions within the CMS Cybersecurity Incident Center (CCIC). Establishes a liaison with senior cyber security, cloud security professionals, insider threat and counterintelligence officials at various national level agencies. Ensures the operational security program effectively defends against cyber threats and is resilient to cyber-attacks. Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues; and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND In order to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Leading cybersecurity risk incident response and monitoring capabilities for any of the following types of environments: cloud hosting platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure), applications, web services, or network traffic, in order to support business goals; 2) Evaluating emerging cybersecurity threats to determine or mitigate risks; AND 3) Coordinating a pilot (test) project or implementing a new project or program from inception to completion. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
