Summary You will serve as a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER. Responsibilities You will manage the programmatic efforts of teams conducting weight handling operations by ensuring maximum efficiency, defining processes, managing budgets, establishing priorities, and managing risks. You will monitor procurement of new and replacement weight handling equipment (WHE), ensuring all new equipment meets requirements. You will ensure the weight handling program is operated and maintained using continuous process improvement based on Lean Manufacturing Techniques. You will provide assistance and participate in the conduct of crane and rigging accident investigations, incident investigations, and near miss reports. You will identify WHE maintenance deficiencies, trends, context, and data to recommend resolutions. You will review the material condition of shop cranes and rigging equipment to ensure proper care and usage. You will develop a formal training and qualification program for supervisors, riggers, WHE custodians and crane operators. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting analyses of weight handling operations to identify improvement areas and recommend corrective actions to ensure weight handling, rigging, and crane equipment are in good condition and safe to operate.
