ManTech’s seeking a Database Administrator to join our Air Force / Space team at Eglin AFB . The Database Administrator primary function is to support the United States Air Force’s 53rd Wing Technical Support Services (53rd WTSS) contract.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Install, configure, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server databases across production, testing, and development environments.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance and implement tuning strategies to enhance efficiency.
Set up and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions using technologies like Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, or log shipping.
Ensure database security by managing user roles, permissions, and encryption mechanisms.
Audit database activities to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., DoD STIGs).
Develop scripts for database automation tasks (e.g., maintenance jobs, alerts, and backups).
Apply patches and service packs to maintain database health.
Provide database support for projects, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
Document database environments, configurations, and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 4 years direct/related experience in database administration role performing Tier 3-level support.
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline from an accredited college or university. 2 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
General relational database management systems (RDBMS) of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
Knowledge of at least on object-oriented programming language, such as Java, C++, or .NET
Experience with major relational database languages and applications for MS SQL Server
Active / valid DoD 8570.01-M IAT-II certification
Security Clearance Requirements:
Active/Valid Secret Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI-eligible clearance (i.e. DCID 6/4 eligibility)
Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information
Willingness to submit to a polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
