AEITS, Inc. is looking to grow its team! We are seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer – Cyber Zero Trust, to support our customer in the Columbia, MD area. This hands-on role involves integrating COTS technologies, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the successful delivery of a secure, scalable Zero Trust solution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems integration, cybersecurity, and Zero Trust principles, working closely with stakeholders, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to drive innovation and mission success.
Mission: As a Deputy Chief Engineer on this government program, you will be providing support for this important DOD mission.
This is a “hands-on keyboard” engineering leader for one of our DoD programs. The ideal candidate will deliver operational skills, a proven track record of successful project delivery, and the ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers. The Deputy Chief will work closely with the PMO team leaders, senior leadership within DoD, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure that our engineering practices are robust, scalable, and align with industry best practices.
The role will involve integrating COTS technologies into a tech stack and providing technical guidance and hands-on keyboard skills to ensure the successful integration and delivery of a prototype solution. This position is also responsible for maintaining a strong focus on quality, performance, and security, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Specific project experience with Zero Trust policy, guidance and measurement is essential.
Location: Columbia, Maryland
All work is on-site. This is not a hybrid or remote position.

Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field and Ten (10) years of experience in engineering roles.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers.
- Ensure alignment of engineering practices with business goals and bridge gaps between the team’s vertical segments.
- Evaluate potential new technologies and frameworks.
- Provide technical guidance to and oversight of a group of integration engineers.
- Collaborate with and brief senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure engineering practices are robust, scalable, and secure.
- Drive the implementation of innovative solutions.
- Maintain a focus on quality, performance, and security.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Stay current with DOD policy, guidelines and best practices.
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams.
Desired Requirements
- Proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Desired experience with a variety of zero trust technologies and frameworks including ICAM, PAM, and ABAC (e.g. Ping, Trend Micro, Virtru and Delinea).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to articulate complex technical concepts.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with cloud computing and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong focus on quality, performance, and security.
- Experience with Agile and iterative development methodologies.
- Ability to stay current with industry trends and advancements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Education and Required Qualification
- Master’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
OR
- Bachelor’s in computer science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field and Ten (10) years of experience in engineering roles.
Travel
- Less than 25% of travel may occur.
