Clearance Requirement: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret SCI clearance.

License/Certification Requirement: Applicants selected are required to hold a Journeyman License OR EPA 608 Universal License OR have equivalent verifiable military service training hours/experience.

Responsibilities

The Critical Facility Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the Campus. This includes conducting planned preventative maintenance, addressing daily corrective tasks, and responding to emergencies to minimize downtime. Acting as a technical expert, the Technician reports to the Program Manager, collaborates with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and third-party vendors, and serves as the primary point of contact for all facility operations. With a focus on mission-critical systems, the Technician ensures Campus equipment supporting servers maintains an uptime of at least 99.999%.

Requires meeting all requirements of CET1. Mechanical and/or electrical OEM factory specific training or experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Utilizes safe working practices; can apply lockout/tagout, SDS, applies good housekeeping methods, etc. Ability to type and utilize common administrative and office software.

Reads and reviews blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, mechanical riser drawings, and job specifications.

Ability to use hand tools and test equipment to install, troubleshoot, and repair new or replacement parts for existing units covered under CET2 classified procedures, according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacturer’s literature, and industry best practices to perform tasks under supervision, and ensures activities are logged in CMMS.

Capable of assisting a CET3/4 technician with CET3 classified procedures (MOP/SOP) associated with the site/campus where they are based.

Daily walk-through of facility documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status, etc. to be catalogued and compared for identification of discrepancies and trends.

Conversant in site-specific processes and procedures such as procedure creation and review standards, procedure instructions and templates, how to report an incident or outage, procedure execution, PM standards, CMMS standards and policy, work order and notification, as well as the use of Sharepoint to access CE procedures and training content.

Understand how to action all site primary and secondary EOP’s, focusing on mastering the first responder role during an emergency. Fully conversant on how to complete drills associated with the site primary and secondary EOP’s.

Understand the function, purpose, nominal operating parameters, and how to operate/isolate and start up: MV/LV Distribution Boards, MV/LV Breakers, UPS, Generator, Batteries, STS, ATS, AHU, DX units, Chillers, Evap Washer Systems, CRAC Units, Fuel Systems, ASCO Systems, BMS System, EPMS System, and Fire Alarm System.

Conversant of the BMS and EPMS systems and the impact of any state change, capable of navigating the system, interpreting alarms, and able to perform controlled shutdowns/start-ups/equipment rotations.

If applicable to the role, disables and enables fire alarm control panels and systems.

Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.

Interprets building codes and local and federal regulations as they relate to installations, and applies them as required by the site.

Identify required materials and parts for maintenance and repair to facilitate procurement.

Prefer candidates who are capable of utilizing appropriate test equipment, including infrared scanning and vibration analyzing meter, to perform system and equipment diagnostics.

Understands the heating cycle to include: identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot and repair.

Understands the refrigeration cycles to include: identifying components in advanced refrigeration circuits, understanding how each component works, diagnosing and correcting problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot.

Knowledge of power density and parity with HVAC system capacities, and cooling and heat load/loss calculations.

Qualifications

Candidate Qualifications / Requirements:

High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6+ years of experience.

Abilities

Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.

Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.

Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.

Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.

Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.

May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
