Working in a team-oriented environment, the Stress Lead will lead a team of Stress engineers/analysts in performing strength and fatigue analysis of Landing Gear and Actuation Systems. This position reports to the Manager of In-Service Engineering and the Chief of Structures. The Stress Lead will support all active in-service programs including In-Service Incidents and analysis related to substantiation of repair dispositions.
Responsible for overseeing all structural work being performed by the ISE Stress team.
Supervise a team of Stress engineers/analysts ensuring application of sound methodology in analyzing structural issues.
Preparation of proposals to improve structural tools and database search engines.
Prepare/Review/Approve structural reports and presentations.
Provide professional responses to Customers on structural issues. Collaboration with the ISE team to effectively prioritize and manage work load.
Motivate team spirit.
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and minimum 8 years of experience in aerospace engineering, particularly in Landing Gear, with a minimum 5 years in a stress lead position.
OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience in aerospace engineering
In-depth-knowledge in the fields of Solids Mechanics, Classical Stress Analysis (Strength & Fatigue life), Finite Element Analysis (linear & non-linear), Aerospace Materials, and Computer Programming are required to perform effectively in this position.
Excellent in technical skills and critical thinking.
Track record of competency in leading/managing stress teams.
Excellent communication skills is required.
Successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP.
Strong knowledge of Abaqus, NASTRAN is a definite asset.
Previous experience in Mechanical Design: CATIA, GT&T, Stack-up calculations.
Demonstrated leadership in an engineering environment.
