Pratt & Whitney’s Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Engine System Design Integration team in West Palm Beach, Florida is looking for a highly motivated and experienced System Design Engineer to support Radial Auxiliary Power Unit and small Turbojet (TJ) programs spanning many product families. Focus includes the entire product life cycle, from new propulsion system development, through engine manufacture, to technical support of fielded products. The APU Engine System Design organization is responsible for all aspects of Design Integration and the total system performance of the APU and Turbojet business.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team of engineers in developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed and system designs of gas turbine engine based APU’s and TJ systems.
Manages the total system requirements and flow down, to drive design configuration; cost, weight, and producibility.
Participate on or leading multidisciplinary product teams to develop and produce new hardware or to improve existing hardware.
Support design reviews and provide technical support to field issues.
Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected; good communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
U.S. Citizenship required for government contracts.
U.S. Person Status required for government contracts.
Travel less than 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have practical knowledge of project management.
Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs, or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
Security Clearance is a plus.
