Principal Systems Engineer – Integrated Fire Control Systems

The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

The U.S. Navy’s CEC, a real-time ‘sensor-netting’ system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground-based units. This integrated picture improves a battlegroup’s effectiveness by enabling longer range, cooperative, or layered engagements. Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Performing Systems Engineering studies and trades to determine solutions to technical issues which will define system architecture, requirements, and capabilities
Mission/operational analysis and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development
Technical leadership experience including Cross Product Team Lead and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) based programs
Directing teams on Model Based Systems Engineering (Rhapsody/Cameo) and SysML development
Interact and Support the Program office for Customer Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)
This position requires daily on site support and is not open to remote possibilities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and MATLAB
Direct experience on a regular basis producing and presenting technical documentation including customer briefings and specifications
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

Masters/PhD in a STEM field
Experience integrating surface or ground based radars and combat systems into complex DoD Systems
Cross Product Team Lead, Integrated Product Team Lead, or similar roles on complex systems
Experience working in an Agile environment as a Product Owner or Scrum Master
Experience supporting US Military and/or DoD customers
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Requirements development experience, including use of DOORS
Familiar with complex Systems Integration, including software such as C++.
Experience leading or participating on teams for new business pursuits and proposal developments
