Metallurgical Engineer – 2nd Shift
Columbus Forge, a recognized leader in producing disks and airfoils for the aerospace propulsion market, is looking for dedicated individuals to support our organization. We have an opportunity for a Metallurgical Engineer to be based in Columbus, GA.
The Metallurgical Engineer objective is conduct testing and material investigations within the Columbus Forge manufacturing facility
Serve as an issue resolution focal point that works with engineering, customer service support, and operations to drive continuous improvement in products and processes.
Collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities.
Various quality issues related to internal non-Conformances, product returns, supplier issues, customer complaints and corrective action requests with clear and concise reports to customers.
Participate on cross functional team projects to improve the overall organization and to develop a career path and leadership, with coaching and assistance by the Material Control Laboratory Manager.
Must be willing to work any shift, including an alternate work week.
Be able to work in a team environment. Be able to handle multi-tasking duties.
Required to successfully pass annual vision screening.
Review of engineering documentation to ensure it contains the necessary quality assurance and customer provisions and criteria.
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Engineering or a related field, with minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience.
US Citizenship required due to government contracts
Understanding of internal and external customer requirements with a high attention to detail in resolving findings.
Ability to understand and interpret engineering technical data to provide guidance to cross functional teams.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management and decision-making skills. Results focused work ethic to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Knowledge of Document Control and Calibration systems. Ability to query data from database systems. Able to interpret manufacturing drawings.
