Raytheon is seeking a Field Engineer with a concentration of expertise in residential and light commercial HVAC technician skills. Work performed will include a wide variety of tasks as part of a team focusing on customer support, engineering, analysis, testing and training. This skilled position will have primary responsibilities supporting maintenance, demolition, construction, and renovation/recapitalization for site buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems. The individual will be expected to assess circumstances and conditions, and determine appropriate technical solutions in accordance with product manufacturer instructions, customer specifications, applicable codes, and prevailing industry standards. The successful candidate must be able to generate material lists, production cost estimates, and forecast reliable project schedules. The candidate will present recommendations and then follow through with the directions from the supervisor and/or customer for a coordinated, effective resolution. Occasionally, the successful candidate will also be required to perform duties outside his or her areas of expertise in order to meet time-critical surge requirements and in support of specific mission related tasking and repairs.
The successful candidate must have excellent customer and coworker interface capabilities. The individual will at times work independently and on other occasions as part of a team. The abilities to work successfully on collaborative team efforts, and independently with minimal supervision, are critical.
Exceptional responsiveness to customer tasking, willingness to work flexible hours on short notice, and an ability to respond quickly and effectively under stressful and/or emergency situations are necessary. Likewise, the candidate may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays intermittently to address emergency issues or meet critical deadlines.
Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with Poly
Minimum 5 years of hands-on HVAC installation and repair work experience;
Possession of a current refrigerant Type II EPA or Universal EPA certification;
Working knowledge of HVAC system installation and industry codes for commercial applications;
Working knowledge of the methods and techniques, materials, tools and equipment commonly used in the installation and repair of HVAC systems;
Ability to accurately troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC problems and make appropriate repairs;
Knowledge of hazards associated with HVAC and electrical systems, building and construction work, as well as appropriate safety precautions, including applicable OSHA regulations;
Ability to effectively read and interpret building plans and specifications, product cut-sheets, and O&M manuals;
Effective spoken and written (English) communication skills.
Minor computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, are required.
Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs
Heavy equipment (fork lift, backhoe, skid steer, trencher, tractor, etc…) operation;
Carpentry & plumbing skills;
Experience training others;
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
