Position Summary
RSI is recruiting for a ULP Lead Engineer/Scientist whois responsible for technical oversight of the Uranium Leasing Program (ULP) for DOE’s Office of Legacy Management. The ULP Lead Engineer/Scientist is responsible for the successful administration of the program’s objectives, LMS Core principals, and the integration of the program into the LMS framework.

Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Hiring Range: $90,000.00 – $102,00.00 per year.(The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)
This position is required to travel 15% of the time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preparation of reclamation project budgets and schedules for work performed by LMS, subcontractors, partner agencies, or the lessees.
Coordination, inspection, and oversight of lessees’ activities; reviewing lessees’ plans of operation for public safety, industry practices, and state & federal environmental law; calculating surety/ reclamation bonds.
Monitor lessees’ safety records, exploration, and mining activities, including underground and surface mine development and ore production.
Plan and oversee reclamation and closure of abandoned mine land features on the lease tracts.
The calculation, evaluation, and reporting on uranium and vanadium pricing, mineral resources, royalty payments, and ore sampling as required.
Interaction with DOE, public entities, and land management agencies.
Coordinate with varied internal support organizations within LM to support the leasing program.
Preparation of technical reports and professional papers.
Staying current with the present state of the mining industry in regard to Federal, State, and Local dealings.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related field. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
5 years of relevant experience.
8 years of experience preferred. Previous government contract experience and MSHA experienced miner training preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Driver’s License.
No professional certifications required.
Required Skills and Abilities
Broad proficiency in the practices of exploration, mining, reclamation, and environmental stewardship.
Experience with CAD & GIS systems and surface & underground surveying.
Experience with Environmental compliance / NEPA.
Experience with current regulations for mineral development, land use, and mineral rights.
Experience with project management including cost analysis and scope of work.

Essential Physical Requirements
Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
