What You Will Do
Join the forefront of national security innovation. As a Program Manager 2 within the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production – Nuclear Production Operations (ALDWP-NP), you will be a key integrator driving planning, execution, and alignment across the ~$1B/year Plutonium Modernization mission.
In this pivotal role, you will serve as a Mission Integration Program Manager, ensuring that strategic objectives and operational deliverables are synchronized across multiple programs, stakeholders, and leadership levels. Also, you will manage non-technical scope, schedule and budget related to program execution. You’ll work closely with directors, line managers, and program managers to enable mission success for pit production-a cornerstone of the nation’s nuclear deterrent.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Program Integration: Coordinate planning efforts, align stakeholder objectives, and integrate cross-program activities.
Drive Performance Tracking: Monitor milestones, track deliverables, and support strategic alignment.
Enhance Communication: Facilitate clear and consistent communications and reporting.
Support Program Execution: Organize information and ensure operational readiness.
Champion Compliance: Promote safety, security, and quality compliance.
Advance Mission Readiness: Identify risks, improve processes, and support initiatives.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Program Management: Working knowledge supporting the day-to-day coordination of program activities, including scheduling, monitoring priorities, organizing information, and helping leadership stay aligned on scope and goals. Comfortable contributing to planning efforts and keeping key program elements on track through consistent follow-up and communication.
Strategic and Tactical Planning: Working Knowledge strategic and tactical planning efforts by contributing to decision-making and aligning program activities with institutional goals. Assist in developing and implementing plans that guide programs from concept through completion.
Laboratory/Operational Knowledge : Working knowledge of Laboratory regulatory, operational, and compliance requirements relevant to nuclear operations, including safety, security, quality assurance, and contractor assurance systems.
Tools and Systems: Successfully demonstrated with a range of institutional tools and systems used to support program operations, including scheduling, deliverable tracking, and general coordination tasks. Able to quickly adapt to new platforms and provide practical, hands-on support that helps ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day program function.
Collaboration and Influence: Strong ability to build trust and consensus across teams, resolve conflicts, and negotiate resources and priorities. Demonstrated success working with project and line management to accomplish programmatic objectives.
Desired Qualifications:
Operational Program Support: Advanced knowledge of business services that support day-to-day program operations, including scheduling and calendar management, meeting planning and logistics, travel and expense coordination, budget tracking, and general HR-related tasks. Demonstrated ability to apply these functions in support of program planning, execution, and performance monitoring.
Milestone Tracking and Reporting: Experience in using project management tools to track program milestones, visualize performance metrics, and create dynamic dashboards for leadership reporting and decision-making.
Program Integration Tools and Practices: Experience using structured tools to support program integration activities such as defining requirements, managing stakeholder agreements, coordinating interfaces, and identifying operational constraints. Familiarity with methods that promote cross-organizational alignment and clarity in complex or multi-disciplinary program environments.
Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination : Demonstrated experience interfacing with external stakeholders, including executive-level customers such as LANL, NNSA, and DoD senior officials. Provides end-to-end coordination and logistical support to management to ensure smooth, professional interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 (https://www.directives.doe.gov/directives-documents/400-series/0472.2-BOrder-A/@Aimages/file) for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
