Precise Systems is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to support the MK 41 Vertical Launch System (VLS) Test Equipment Branch at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD). The tasking supports efforts for the following NSWC PHD customers: United States Navy; Allied Nations (NATO); Consortium Nations; and Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
Responsibilities:
Gather technical and operational information from subject-matter experts (SMEs) and develop, organize, and write O-Level and I-Level technical manuals, maintenance and fault isolation procedures, technical specifications, and process documentation
Provide Technical Documentation support including writing/redlining MK 41 VLS Operation and Maintenance manuals and specifications related to shipboard test equipment and production ATEs (Automatic Test Equipment)
Provide Training Support in developing VLS documentations, including Operator’s Manuals, fault isolation guides, and training materials in support of VLS Test Equipment initial deployment.
Responsible for managing and coordinating the technical documentation development lifecycle with Subject Matter Experts, from the initial phase of information gathering and planning, to content specification, development and implementation, and up to the production & evaluation.
Assist in developing branch presentations and proposals in support of program & project reviews, financial reviews, fleet and user’s group conferences & forums
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
At least five (5) years of technical writing experience
Knowledge of the MK41 VLS, or of a similar naval weapon system element desired
Experience in tasking related to technical documentation, training support, and technical assistance
Experience in writing and editing operational shipboard technical manuals (O-level) and Intermediate Level (I-Level) manuals and procedures
Knowledge and experience in tasks related to gathering technical information and determining project requirements in support of operator training manuals and presentations.
Mechanical/Electrical technical background
Leadership experience is a plus but not required
Basic computer skills: Operating Systems; File Management; Word Processing; Spreadsheets; Online Communication, etc., and uses a computer effectively to perform common tasks.

Ability to work independently with little to no direction
Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
High degree of self-motivation
Team player.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $66,918.36 to $100,377.54 annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems’ total compensation package.
