Leidos Defense Systems Sector (Space Systems Division, Leidos Dynetics) is seeking a talented Principal Structural Analyst to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. Primary Responsibilities:

The Principal Structural Analyst will use analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and other analysis tools to produce models, perform analysis, calculations, data reduction, and correlate test results for structures and/or structural dynamics. The candidate will be responsible for closely collaborating with the design and manufacturing teams to produce designs that meet stringent performance, manufacturability and schedule requirements.  The candidate would be expected to perform these roles in the capacity of a lead structural analyst on a major program. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university
  • Candidate must have at least a BS degree and 12-15 years’ experience (or an MS degree and 10-13 years) performing aerospace structural analysis in industry.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience with any of the commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g. FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS).
  • Candidate must be able to write technical reports and present data to a multi-disciplined team.
  • The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Advanced static structural stress analysis using classic methods
  • Familiarity with typical NASA structural standards, including but not limited to NASA-STD-5001, NASA-STD-5019 and NASA-STD-5020
  • Candidate must possess experience as a lead structural analyst on an aerospace program
  • Candidate must be capable of working as part of a larger analysis team or working as the sole analyst on a project.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university
  • Advanced structural analysis techniques (Linear contact FEA, Non-linear FEA, Application of non-linear material properties to hand analysis, Integrated multi-physics analysis).
  • Fracture, Fatigue, and Durability analysis using standard tools (NASGRO, NASFLA, etc.)
  • Dynamics analysis (modal, response spectrum, shock, vibration)
  • Structural testing experience, both static and dynamic
  • Composite materials
  • Thermal analysis

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 – $227,950.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
